Public Skating is back this Saturday at the Portland Recreation Centre, McGill Road, Portland.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone
Public skating held on Saturday nights fortnightly is being suspended until April. We haven’t taken this decision lightly but in the face of current events we feel it is prudent to protect our members and the public.
We are ceasing Derby training until April also.
We will update this if the situation changes for any reason.
Any queries can be emailed to email@example.com
All over New Zealand, on 7th March, skaters will be doing their thing and encouraging people to get involved in the wonderful world of skating.
It could be roller hockey, speed skating, artistic skating, roller derby or just skating for fun and fitness – as long as there are wheels on your feet.
The Northland Nightmares have decided in the morning to skate the Loop. We are meeting at 10.30am in the car park next to Te Matau a Pohe bridge. Please come along and join us for a skate & a chat if you have your own skates.

We are often asked “where can I buy some skates for our kids?” Well there is a great new online site where you can buy some cool new skates. They also have inline skates, scooters and protective gear – something for everyone. Check out whats available here and start your shopping early.
They also have laybuy available to spread those costs out (https://www.laybuy.com/nz/ for layby details)
The First ever Younger Games junior roller derby tournament took place on the weekend and what an action packed day it was.

This Saturday is the first ever Junior Tournament in NZ. Come on down to the ASB Stadium and cheer these young athletes on.
There is less than a month till the National Junior Tournament being held at the ASB Stadium in Kensington and our juniors are getting really excited. The Younger Games will be the first ever tournament held for juniors and we want to make this an annual event, giving juniors throughout NZ something to work towards (why should the seniors have all the fun!)
We are also going to stream these games live for all to see (more details of this to follow)
So add to your diaries now and come along to cheer these amazing young athletes on!!
Our Juniors took a trip down to Auckland at the weekend to take on Pirate City Rollers’ Scallywags (along with some skaters from Hellmilton Roller Ghouls & Dead End Derby, Christchurch). The Hell Razors played an amazing game, winning 433 to 193
A big thanks to Pirate City Rollers for hosting us
Our juniors are now counting down the days to The Younger Games – the first junior roller derby tournament to be held in New Zealand. 7th September is the date so put it in your diary now it, it is going to be a fantastic day!!
Our juniors are starting to get very excited about “The Younger Game”, the first junior roller derby tournament in New Zealand being held at Kensington Stadium on 7th September.
Junior Derby is now starting to become popular in New Zealand with many leagues now discovering the benefits of having junior teams in their leagues.
Our Hell Razors have been waiting a long time for this. In their history of game playing, they have only lost one game, against Hellmilton Roller Ghouls’ Monstars.
Their goal in this tournament is to stay the top Junior Roller Derby team in New Zealand.
Friday June 7th saw us packing our bags once again and making the trip to Palmerston North to play Swamp City Roller Derby. This time our A & B teams went down to battle it out on the flat track. The games were played outside of Palmerston in Pahiatua.
First up was our A team, Hells Wives who battled against Swamp City’s All Stars and a battle it certainly was! Some amazing footwork was seen on both sides along with some big hits. The All Stars were just too strong in the end winning 340 – 101
It was then time for the B teams battle – our Night Furyz against Swamp City’s Honourable Mareikura. This game wasn’t quite as fast paced but was still an awesome game to watch with our Night Furyz pulling ahead and winning 202 -155.
Thank you Swamp City for being wonderful hosts – we had an awesome time and were made to feel very welcome.
Sadly this is our last senior game for a while. We have not been able to persuade any other derby team in the whole of New Zealand to travel to the Winterless North to play us and have already had to travel to 3 away games in a short time to be able to stay in the ranking table.
We would really like to apologise to all our fans that we haven’t been able to secure home games to come watch as you guys are amazing fans and we hope you will hang in there with us.
We do have a Junior tournament on September 7th at Kensington Stadium which is shaping up to being an incredible tournament, the first Junior tournament ever in NZ and we hope you will come along and support your “Hell Razors” We will be posting more details closer to the date.
Early on Friday 24th May we loaded up 3 vans with juniors & seniors and made a 7hr trek down to Sunny Napier.
Saturday afternoon the juniors played first with our Hell Razors taking on Bay City Roller’s junior team, Guns & Roses . The game ended up being played at level 3, a first for a New Zealand junior game. This game was amazing to watch and it showed that junior games can be just as exciting as a senior game.
Final score was 267 – 162 to the Hell Razors
Second game saw Hells Wives take on Bay City Roller’s Twisted Sister. The game was full of big hits and some amazing skating on both sides. Hells Wives proved to be too strong for Twisted Sister on the day and took the win with a score of 253 – 109.
Thank you Bay City Rollers you were great hosts and we look forward to seeing your juniors in Whangarei on 7th September for “The Younger Games National Junior Tournament”
There were some wild happenings at ASB stadium on Saturday night with our first home game of the season.
Opening game was the juniors and this game was fast and very competitive. The score margin was very small throughout the whole game with team Black just pulling ahead of team Red at the end. Final score was 231 – 226.
The main event was the senior’s game with our very own S.W.A.T. team versus the Convicts from the Nightmares Correctional Facility. The Wardens on the referee squad had to keep a keen eye on this game to ensure there were no underhand or devious tactics going on. This game was also very close all the way through but in the end the Convicts pulled ahead to win 241-204.
Thanks to the Fans who came out to watch and cheer – you are AWESOME!, Thanks to the Skeleton Crew and Refs for keeping it running smoothly. And a big thanks to Peowhairangi Roller Derby skaters (both junior & senior) for travelling down from Kerikeri & joining us in the fun.
Next home game is 11th May – see you there
