Kiwi Skate Day 2020 – 7th March

Kiwi Kids on Skates Logo BLUE march

All over New Zealand, on 7th March, skaters will be doing their thing and encouraging people to get involved in the wonderful world of skating.

It could be roller hockey, speed skating, artistic skating, roller derby or just skating for fun and fitness – as long as there are wheels on your feet.

The Northland Nightmares have decided in the morning to skate the Loop. We are meeting at 10.30am in the car park next to Te Matau a Pohe bridge.  Please come along and join us for a skate & a chat if you have your own skates.

In the evening we are running a public skate at Portland Recreation Centre in McGill Road, Portland. Doors open at 5.30pm. As a special for Kiwi Skate Day only  – entry will be $2 & $1 for skate hire if required. (NB: cash only please, no EFTPOS)

Hope we see you there

Last Intake for the Year

Wow! What a Weekend

The First ever Younger Games junior roller derby tournament took place on the weekend and what an action packed day it was.

These dedicated young skaters showed some amazing athletic skills. If anyone thinks junior derby isn’t exciting to watch you having been watching the wrong games! Saturday’s games had all the thrills & spills of a senior game and some skaters I can see as future Team NZ players.

Results for the 3 games were;

Game 1: Guns N Roses 328 – Red Devils 120

Game 2: Hell Razors 244 – Guns N Roses 68

Game 3: Hell Razors 353 – Red Devils 74

Final Placings:

1st Hell Razors

2nd Guns N Roses

3rd Red Devils (composed of skaters from PCR, DED, HRG & NN)
